Run the Oxford Parks race#1, 27th May 2017, 10:00 to 13:00 at Cutteslowe Park, Harbord Road, Oxford, Holt Weer Close, Oxford (7.1 miles)

A race with no set route - you have to find your way around the course as fast as you can, using a special orienteering map of the park and woods to find a series of checkpoints. Each checkpoint might be on paths, or hidden behind vegetation, ditches or streams. Each one consists of a marker flag and timing unit, for you to register your electronic timing chip against (which we will lend to you). Be as competitive as you want - run, jog or just walk, there will be a 5k course for runners, plus shorter ones for families and juniors (1k to 3k), although you can enter any course you wish. Just turn up and enter on the day, any time between 10:00 and 11:30. Courses close at 1pm and normally take 30 to 75 mins to complete. Entry fees are just �£6 for adults and groups; �£2 for solo juniors (and you get to keep your waterproof map!).

Organised by Thames Valley Orienteering Club and supported by Oxford City Council and Up and Running. Please use Park & Ride if possible, although some pay and display parking is located off Harbord Road, OX2 8NW.

Every Dad TRAVELS FREE with any accompanied ticket holder on Father's Day, 18 June 2016. Dad will probably appreciate the steam and diesel locomotive hauling his train and with the Red Kites often whirling overhead, it is surely going to be his perfect treat!
All the while your steam locomotive is lazily billowing steam past your window or the vintage diesel is growling its way along the line on the gentle 8-mile round trip. Our volunteers will be making their way through the train with an at-seat service of tea, coffee and light refreshments, and they will even have Chinnor Railway Ale onboard (well, it surely is his special day!).
Steam hauled trains depart Chinnor station at 11.00, 12.15, 13.30, 15.00 and 16.30.
Each round trip takes up to 55 minutes in duration.
