Not sure about any hostels there...quick search showed some expensive B&Bs..
Did find a few houses near the Abingdon center on gumtree tough....waiting for response....mostly in the range £350-500 p.c.m...
Did think about living in Oxford but then commute is tirng and transport makes it equally costly...
This place is quite expensive compared to whee I live (Nottingham) !
